Elections in Moldova

12. Juli 2021

On July 11, Moldova held crucial parliamentary snap elections. After counting 99.91% of ballots, Party Of Action and Solidarity (PAS) – founded by President Maia Sandu – is leading with the majority of votes.

MEP Viola von Cramon, the member of the European Parliament’s International Election Observation Mission was observing the key stages of the election process on several polling stations near the Transnistrian region.

“I want to congratulate citizens of Moldova on conducting exemplary elations and making a great leap towards a more democratic, fairer society. Despite many obstacles on the way to these snap elections, the people of Moldova can be proud of how well organized, calm and transparent the process was and how much they have achieved.

I am looking forward to cooperation with Moldova’s new, pro-reform Government. We at the European Union are eager and ready to support you in your quest of reforming and modernizing the country. “
