41 MEPs support equal marriage rights in Ukraine

In March 2023 Inna Sovsun, Member of the Verkhovna Rada, submitted a bill for gender-neutral civil partnerships, aiming to provide same-sex couples in Ukraine legal recognition and protection.

With a letter of support 41 Members of the European Parliament, including my colleague Terry Reintke and I, reached out to the responsible authorities in Ukraine in order to help the bill to succeed.

Passing this bill would not only demonstrate Ukraine’s commitment to equality in the run-up to its EU accession negotiations but also counter the anti-liberal ideology fuelling Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
